Cleaques Bookings

A multi-platform booking system that helps users plan and book trips across Africa and the Caribbean

SCOPE

The project covered a multi-sided marketplace platform with three main systems: users, vendors, and admin. It included mobile apps for users and vendors, a web experience for broader access, and a full admin dashboard for operations, moderation, payments, and analytics. The scope also included core systems like bookings, payments, promotions, reviews, and vendor verification.

PROBLEM

Many users struggle to plan trips in unfamiliar regions like Africa and the Caribbean. Existing platforms assume users already know what they want, which makes planning overwhelming and fragmented. The core problem was how do we help a user who has never visited these regions confidently plan and book an entire trip in one guided system?

SOLUTION

To solve this, I designed a guided trip planning system that helps users build their journey step by step instead of figuring everything out on their own. The platform asks simple questions about their preferences, travel goals, and needs, then uses those answers to generate a complete itinerary across flights, stays, rides, and experiences. For users who already know what they want, I also designed an instant booking flow that lets them quickly search and book services without guidance. This creates two clear paths: one for discovery and one for direct action. The result is a single platform that removes confusion, reduces planning effort, and helps users confidently book full trips in regions they are not familiar with.

PROCESS

I conducted UX research to understand how users currently plan trips and where they struggle most. The research showed that users often rely on multiple platforms and social media recommendations, which creates confusion and decision fatigue.

I also studied existing booking platforms like Airbnb and Booking.com to understand how trust systems, reviews, and listing structures influence decision-making.

From the research, I focused on three key UX decisions:

  1. Guided trip planning flow
Instead of forcing users to search manually, the platform asks structured questions and builds a personalized itinerary.

  2. Instant booking mode
For users who already know what they want, a direct booking flow was created for speed.

  3. Trust-first marketplace design
Reviews, verification, and admin moderation were prioritized to ensure reliability across vendors and listings.

OUTCOME

The final product is a structured and scalable marketplace system that connects users, vendors, and administrators in one ecosystem. It improves user booking clarity, simplifies vendor operations, and gives admins full control over platform integrity and financial systems. The design ensures a consistent experience across mobile and web while supporting future expansion into more services and markets.
